Jasser Auda. Celebrating the Prophet’s birth: Between two bid’as. Khutba.

Washington – ADAMS Ashburn Dec 9 2016

In this Khutbah, Dr. Jasser Auda discusses the issue of celebrating the birth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He approaches the question by tackling two innovations (Bid`ahs) that people fall in when dealing with the occasion.

On one hand, some wage a war on those who celebrate the occasion and forget such evils as , monopoly, ignorance, and silence while Muslims are oppressed everywhere.

On the other hand, some sing, read poems and dance in order to “drug” Muslims and not make them aware of their sad reality and their duty to change it.

Dr. Auda argues that to celebrate Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) appropriately, without falling in a Bid`ah, is achieved through celebrating his example and following into his footsteps
