Towards a Quranic Maqasid-based Methodology
Third Class :Intro to Fiqh
IPSA-Cape Town 2019

This is from the 3rd lecture (out of 10), which Dr.Jasser Auda teach as a “Contemporary Islamic Law” graduate course. He explained how cyclical reflection is not a hermeneutical cycle, since its objectives are defined by the Text itself and not from outside of it. Avoiding the “methodological errors” that the Quran warns from, and asking questions of system components and arguments for proof, resulted in a group of fundamentals/usul that will constitute tools for analysis, elements of study and objectives for action at all levels and within various fields of knowledge.
